Mathis described as 'tireless supporter' of community

GAINESVILLE - A Gainesville woman who died Thursday is described by family members as "a tireless supporter" of the community.

Kathy Mathis, 54, the wife of Jim Mathis, Jr., died at her home following an extended illness.

Mathis was a former President of United Way of Hall County, Treasurer of the Junior League of Gainesville, Lanier Tech board member, and served on the board of the North Georgia Community Foundation. She was Business Manager for the Junior League Cookbook, a PTA president and Girl Scout leader.

A memorial service will be held for Sunday afternoon at 3:00 at First Baptist Church on Green Street. (See complete obituary elsewhere on this site)
