Habersham County Commission has new chair

CLARKESVILLE - The Habersham County Commission has a new chairman.

At their first meeting of the new year, commissioners chose Lynn Dockery to chair the group, replacing Doug Vermilya, the commissioner who has held the post the past two years. Vermilya is still a member of the commission.

Newly elected commissioner Jim Butterworth was chosen the new vice chairman.

In other appointments, Lewis Canup was appointed County Engineer and the law firm of Runyan and Greene, LLC, was appointed County Attorney. The commission voted to advertise for the position of County Auditor.
