New home starts still holding steady in Gainesville area

GAINESVILLE - There was little change in new home construction in Gainesville and Hall County last month.

Officials with Gainesville-Hall County Building Inspection Services say 67 permits were okayed for new, single-family homes in unincoporated parts of the county, while in the city of Gainesville, 7 were approved. That is about in line with the totals for October and November.

Commercial/industrial work in the city declined a bit during December but increased considerably in the county - buoyed by $3.4 million in additions and renovations.
