JUNO - Strong winds flattened a chicken house on the Danny Fauscette poultry farm on Georgia 183 in Dawson County near Amicalola Falls late Thursday afternoon.
County fire chief and EMA director Scott Wallace says he got the call about 5:00.
"I got the initial call from my communications (office)," Wallace said. "They advised me that there was a chicken house standing in the middle of the roadway."
Wallace said when he got there he found the road covered in "a lot of debris - tin, 2x4s, insulation - all the things you would have in a chicken house."
He added there were about 25,000 9-day-old chicks in the house.
Wallace said the roof of another nearby poultry house was damaged by the winds.
