County fire chief and EMA director Scott Wallace says he got the call about 5:00.
"I got the initial call from my communications (office)," Wallace said. "They advised me that there was a chicken house standing in the middle of the roadway."
Wallace said when he got there he found the road covered in "a lot of debris - tin, 2x4s, insulation - all the things you would have in a chicken house."
He added there were about 25,000 9-day-old chicks in the house.
Wallace said the roof of another nearby poultry house was damaged by the winds.
