GAINESVILLE - The latest class in the City of Gainesville's Citizens' Government Academy is scheduled to begin March 16 - and registration is now underway.

The ten-week session will conclude May 16.

"The Citizens' Academy is a one-stop shop for
citizens who are interested in learning about city services and how they can become involved in city government," said City Manager Bryan Shuler. "These classes are the best way we've found to help educate the community on issues like taxes, water quality, and public safety needs."

The first class will be held on Wednesday. Other classes are planned for Monday evenings from 6:30-9:00 with one Saturday class
scheduled from 9-12 on April 16.

Applicants must be 21 years of age and a legal citizen of the United States. Registration forms are available on the city website at
www.gainesville.org, under Events or by calling 770-297-5499.

Registration ends March 4. Class size will be limited.
