Pioneer Bowl moves from Atlanta, set for Dec. 4 in Mobile

<p>The Pioneer Bowl, the only NCAA-sanctioned Division II bowl game for historically black colleges and universities, will be played Dec. 4 in Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium.</p><p>The game will match the winners of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.</p><p>The bowl has been played in Atlanta six times, but Dr. William Lide, the SIAC's commissioner, said bowl officials could not have found a better city for the game than Mobile.</p><p>Lide said a major consideration in making a move was finding a "city of good size, the quality of the facility and the support gained from the community for a bowl game as well as how accessible it would be for our fans to enter and exit the stadium."</p><p>Mobile is home to the GMAC Bowl, Dec. 22, and Senior Bowl, Jan. 29.</p><p>Information from: Mobile Register</p>
