GAINESVILLE - For the second time in three weeks, it's showdown time for the Lakeview Academy girls basketball team.
The Class A sixth-ranked Lady Lions (16-4, 4-2) will travel to No. 11 Jefferson Tuesday night in a battle for first place in Region 8-A North and possibly the subregion title.
The Lady Dragons play host to Towns County Friday, which sits a game behind both Jeffferson and Lakeview in the subregion standings.
Lakview plays host to Rabun Gap Friday night in the regular season finale.
Two weeks ago, Lakeview beat the Lady Dragons 62-55 at home behind 28 points from Chelsey Chastain. Lakeview took advantage of the smaller Lady Dragons getting 50 points in the paint.
With the Region 8-A Tournament set to begin next week, seeding is important with No. 2 Social Circle, barring an upset, looming in the later rounds. Two losses this week could drop the Lady Lions to third and a possible showdown with Social Circle to get into the state bracket.
Lakeview lost to Social Circle last week 63-57 in their only meeting of the year.
