RABBITTOWN - There was no slow start Tuesday night for the East Hall boys basketball team against West Hall.
The No. 3-ranked Vikings opened the game with a 15-4 run and led 25-11 after the first quarter in taking an easy 97-70 win over the Spartans at the East Hall gym.
With the win East Hall (22-2, 8-0) finished its Region 7-AAA scheduled a perfect 14-0 overall and as the No. 1 seed in next week's region tournament.
East Hall has had trouble getting going in the first quarter at times. But East Hall coach Seth Vining said it was one of their better efforts of late.
"I thought we played very well most of the game. We came out and played good defense and hit some shots early. That was the difference," Vining said.
Frank Davis poured in 19 points to lead four Vikings in double figures. Marquez Jackson had 12 and Shunquise Glenn and Kevin Reeves each added 11 for East Hall.
West Hall (9-13, 0-7) was led by Justin Brooks, who had a game-high 23 points. Jerry Kendall added 13 for the Spartans.
East Hall never let up on the reeling Spartans taking a 51-32 lead at halftime. The Vikings increased it to 74-49 by the end of the third quarter and led by as many as 30 several times.
