RABBITTOWN - The East Hall girls basketball team opened up a close game at halftime to pull away for a 53-45 win over West Hall Tuesday night.
The win for the Lady Vikings (13-10, 3-5) snapped a five-game losing streak in the subregion. It was the fourth straight subregion loss for West Hall (10-11, 1-6).
The lead changed hands a half dozen times in the first half with the game tied 10-10 after the first quarter and East Hall taking a 25-23 lead in halftime.
But the Lady Vikings (13-10, 3-5) used a 13-8 third quarter lead 38-31 and then turned on the defense in fourth quarter.
East Hall coach Alan Pritchett said it was a big win.
"We needed that one and I thought we played very good defense in the fourth quarter," he said. "We made some big stops when we needed them."
East Hall was led by Jennifer Harris with 16 points. Lisa Coleman added 14 for the Lady Vikings.
West Hall got a game-high 19 from Martha Vital. Paige Hanson added 10 for the Lady Spartans.
