GAINESVILLE - The Lakeview Academy girls basketball team, despite its disapponting fourth-place finish in the recent Region 8-A Tournament, was ranked sixth in the final regular season gabsketball.net Class A poll released Monday.
The Lady Lions won the regular season Region 8-A North title but were upset by No. 11 Jefferson and No. 14 Towns County in the region tournament last week.
The Lady Lions will play No. 9 Bowden in the first round of the state tournament Friday at Towns County High School.
The Lakeview boys also advanced to the state tournament and will play No. 2-ranked Landmark Christian at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
The host Towns County girls will play Heard County at 4 p.m. Saturday and Jefferson will play Landmark Christian at 7 p.m Saturday.
