Changes in Red Rabbit bus routes set for unveiling

GAINESVILLE - Hall Area Transit (HAT) is ready to unveil its new plans for the Red Rabbit Bus System and its Dial-A-Ride service.

Plans for both services have been in the works for several months.

Now, the wait is over - and officials will roll out the changes Friday - at Customer Appreciation Day - at the transit station at High and Pine streets. New bus routes and time schedules will be explained throughout the day.

Coffee, juice and donuts will be provided starting at 7:15 a.m. while HAT staffers discuss the changes. The changes are effective November 15.

The Red Rabbit will offer three fixed-route bus lines with 150 plus stops located within its service area. The buses will run along major corridors such as Jesse Jewell, Dawsonville Highway, Limestone Parkway and Highway 129.

"While we are truly excited about implementing our new services, our priority is to continue top quality customer service to our valuable riders," says Phillippa Lewis Moss, Director,Community Service Center. Moss continues. "Our new routes were reconfigured to provide better services to our current and potential new customers."

Rides on the Red Rabbit will be free November 15-19 and on Fridays December 3-17.

Flyers and new route brochures will be distributed throughout the community as part of a public education effort over the next several months. Organizations interested in arranging a visit from a HAT staff member, can call the Community Service Center at 770-535-5445.
