Russian doctors visit Gainesville

By by Ken Stanford
GAINESVILLE - A group of 14 doctors and health administrators from Russia were to visit Gainesville's Good News Health Clinic and Brenau University Wednesday.

The group is focused on health care reform in Russia and is interested in seeing the Good News facility, which caters to Gainesville's homeless and needy.

The Russians also will be told about "partnership relationships" such as the clinic has with Brenau, where student nurses perform fieldwork and lend their volunteer efforts.

The group is sponsored by the Open World Leadership program which, as one of their missions, enables emerging Russian leaders to examine how the U.S. private and nonprofit sectors help meet social and civic needs.

The group was to tour the clinic Wednesday morning then travel to the Brenau campus for meeting and lunch with members of the faculty who represent Brenau's School of Health and Science.
