CLEVELAND - White County's Heath Vinson probably would like to play North Hall every game.
The senior guard, in two games this season against the Trojans, has averaged 25 points a game. And Tuesday night, his effort helped the Warriors overcome a halftime deficit to take a 76-72 win in both teams' Region 7-AAA North game.
Vinson poured in 26 points Tuesday night. to lead the Warriors (9-3, 1-0). he had 24 in a loss to the Trojans (5-5, 0-1) earlier in the year.
Jeff Belflower had 19 points, including getting his 1,000th point in his career at White County. Emory Cain had 11 and Adam cash 10 for the Warriors.
White County trailed 37-34 at halftime but used a 31-13 third quarter to take a 65-50 lead.
"The coach told us to push the ball more against them and we did and that seemed to get us going," Belflower said.
North Hall would get back in the game , however. The Trojans, behind Ronny Hulsey, who finished with 17 points, used a 20-6 run to get within 71-70 late.
White County, however, would hold the Trojans without a basket the rest of the way.
"We played better defense this time and that was a big difference," Cain said.
Hulsey dominated the first game pouring in 29 points, but was held in check most of the game Tuesday.
The win was crucial for the Warriors, whose next two subregion games are on the road at Fannin County and at Pickens County.
North Hall travels to rival Chestatee Friday in another big subregion battle before returning home next week for three straight home games.
