MURRAYVILLE - With Johnson leading North Hall 67-66 with 27 seconds left, the Knights' Whitney Randolph had a chance to ice the game with two free throws.

The senior missed both but made up for it by swatting away an inbounds pass with 1.8 seconds left to preserve the win.

"We made some plays at the end but we stopped playing defense in the second half," Johnson coach Benji Wood said. "We got careless with the ball and let them back in. We will need to be more consistent if we want to win some games in the subregion."

Randolph finished with 18 points but the Lady Knights (12-3) were led by Sarah lane's 20. Brook Baker added 11.

North Hall (5-7) was led by senior Megan Westmoreland's 30 points. Lindsay Kitchens added 11 and Caitlyn Tilson 10 for the Lady Trojans.

After Johnson ran out to a 47-36 lead, North Hall responded with a 13-2 run to tie game. the game went back-and-forth with Westmoreland putting the Trojans ahead 66-65 on a basket with 1:48 left.

But Randolph gave Johnson the lead back eight seconds later and held on for the win.
