Ranked teams face tough games in area hoops action

UNDATED - There are several key matchups Friday night in prep boys basketball action around northeast Georgia.

In Region 7-AAA. Class AAA No. 1-ranked East Hall (14-2, 3-0 South) plays at West Hall. The Spartans (9-6, 0-2) have struggled losing three of thier last four games. The Vikings have won three straight since losing to Class AAAAA No. 1-ranked South Gwinnett.

Flowery Branch travels to No. 10 Johnson in another region 7-AAA South game. Gainesville is off.

In Region 7-AAA North, North Hall plays host to Pickens in a battle for second place in the subregion. White County, which leads the North subregion, plays host to Chestatee. Fannin County travels to Gilmer in the other North subregion game.

Lakeview Academy will travel to Athens for the second time in a week to play at Prince Avenue in a Region 8-A contest.

In Region 8-AA, No. 12 Buford plays host to No. 11 Apalachee in a key region matchup. No. 2 Wesleyan is off.

In other region 8-AA action, Banks County plays host to Lumpkin County; Union County travels to Dawson County and Greater Atlanta Christian travels to Providence.

In Region 8-AAAA, Jackson County travels to sixth-ranked Cedar Shoals; Habersham Central travels to Clarke Central; and Winder-Barrow plays host to Madison County.
