Lady Elephants No. 1, JHS 3rd in AAA poll

GAINESVILLE - It only took one week for the Gainesville Lady Red Elephants basketball team to get back atop the gabasketball.net Class AAA rankings.

Although they will have to share the top spot with Perry this week.

Gainesville (12-3) climbed from No. 2 by virtue of wins over West Hall and East Hall last week.

Meanwhile, the Johnson Lady Knights (11-3) climbed to third. Johnson beat West Hall and North Hall last week. Flowery Branch (10-4) remained ninth despite losing two of its last three games.

Among other northeast Georgia teams in AAA, Elbert County is eighth and Franklin County 11th in the latest poll released Monday.


In Class AAAAA, Collins Hill is No. 1.

In Class AA, Region 8-AA has three teams in the top 12. Wesleyan is ranked No. 1 with Greater Atlanta Christian sixth. The buford Lady Wolves are 12th.

In Class A, Jefferson is tied with fellow Region 8-A team Athens Academy for ninth.

There are no teams in northeast Georgia ranked in the Class AAAA poll.
