North Hall boys stun No. 10 Johnson on road

By By Jeff Hart
OAKWOOD - North Hall boys basketball coach Bobby Pless said it would take time for his Trojans to get used to each other and him.

After the Trojans pulled off a 67-58 win over Class AAA No. 10 Johnson Saturday night on the road, their time may have arrived.

North Hall (9-6) has won three straight and 5-of-6 games since the Christmas break and have done it with offense and defense.

"As a team we have finally come to realize a common goal: to win games," Pless said. "We've been very consistent over the last week. The guys played with a lot of heart tonight. I'm very proud of them."

The Trojans defense was superb, holding Sam Greavu to just 20 points one night after he set a school-record with 50 in a win over Flowery Branch. They held Johnson (10-7) to just 31 first half points while building a 40-31 lead.

Johnson made a run midway through the third quarter cutting it to 50-46 but North Hall answered with an 8-2 run over the next three minutes to take control.

Ronny Hulsey continued his consistent play leading the Trojans with 22 points. Robby Hamilton added 16 and Russ Short 12 for North Hall.

Johnson was led by Tarik Smith with 26 points.
