GAINESVILLE - The Chestatee girls basketball team goes for its second straight Region 7-AAA North win Friday night when it plays host to Gilmer.
The Lady War Eagles (5-11, 2-3) are coming off a thrilling 60-59 win over Pickens County Tuesday night. They beat Gilmer earlier this month.
Brooke Puckett, Erika Rylee and Heather Reed have been playing well for Chestatee, which could move into a tie for third in the subregion with a win and a North Hall loss to White County.
The Lady Bobcats (1-16, 0-5) have not won in almost two months.
In other Region 7-AAA North action, Pickens County will travel to Fannin County. The Lady Rebels (16-4, 4-1) could pull into a tie for first in the subregion with a win and a White County loss to North Hall.
Johnson is off Friday night and does get back into subregion play again until Tuesday at rival West Hall.
In other girls action around northeast Georgia, Class A No. 9 Lakeview Academy (13-4, 6-1), fresh off a 62-55 over fellow No. 9 Jefferson Tuesday night, will try to keep pace with Towns County for first place in Region 8-A North playing host to Tallulah Falls. They beat Tallulah earlier in the season.
In other region 8-A action Jefferson travels to Athens Academy.
In Region 8-AA, No. 11 Buford travels to Class AA No. 1 Wesleyan in a key region showdown.
Lumpkin County will play host to Rabun County, Dawson County will travel to Banks County and Apalachee plays host to Greater Atlanta Christian.
Union County and Providence are off in Region 8-AA Friday night.
