GAINESVILLE - The North Hall girls basketball team ended its three-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 71-53 win over rival Chestatee at home.
The loss for Chestatee (7-12, 3-4 in Region 7-AAA North) snapped a season-high three-game win streak.
The Lady Trojans (8-10, 4-3 in Region 7-AAA North) got 26 points from Megan Westmoreland as they continuously pounded the ball inside against the smaller Lady War Eagles.
"We wanted to go inside from the beginning and we were able to do that pretty well," North Hall coach Debbie Blake said. "They weren't able to stop her so we just kept going to her."
Beth Ann Hamilton added 14 and Caitlyn Tilson 11 for North Hall, who movedthird place in the subregion.
Chestatee was led by Erika Rylee with 13 points. Heather Reed and Virginia Hill each had 11 and Mallory McCord 10 for the Lady War Eagles.
North Hall, however, was dealt a serious blow when Lindsay Kitchens went down in the third quarter with head and neck injury. Kitchens landed on her head after driving to the basket. She left the gym on a stretcher but is expected to be okay. But she is likely to miss the Lady Trojans' games this weekend.
"That was tough for all of us but I thought we handled it well and seeing her okay gave us a little spark," Blake said.
Chestatee trailed just 19 after the first quarter and quickly pulled with 19-18 in the second, but North Hall went on a 12-2 run to take a 31-20 lead.
North Hall put the game away midway through the fourth quarter with a 14-3 run to take a 60-40 lead.
