By By Jeff Hart
MURRAYVILLE - The Class AAA No. 1-ranked East Hall boys basketball team used a 20-2 run in the second quarter to open up a big lead and then hold on for a 71-63 win over North Hall Saturday night.

The Vikings (21-2) hit 14-of-16 free throws for the game, including 8 straight in the final 1:40, to preserve the win.

North Hall (13-8) began whittling the 39-16 Vikings lead down late in the second quarter and trailed just 41-26 at halftime.

It looked bad again for North Hall early in the third quarter when East Hall ran off a 10-4 run to take a 51-30 lead.

But The Trojans answered with a 14-0 run to cut it to 51-44 and then got as close as 55-50 before the Vikings got two consecutive three-point plays to run it back to a 61-50 lead.

North Hall got within 65-61 with 50 seconds left but no closer.

Walter Hill led East Hall with 18 points and 4 blocks. Marquez Jackson added 14 and Brandon Lytle 12 for the Vikings.

Ronnu Hulsey poured in 23 points to lead North Hall. Russ Short and Robby Hamilton each scored 10 for the Trojans.
