RMA moving on after upset win

GAINESVILLE - Riverside Military Academy coaches are treating their team's big, come-from-behind 13-7 win Friday over Mount de Sales just like any other day.

No. it's true.

"Hey, we worked hard for a month and the kids believed in themselves and proved that their sacrifices weren't for nothing," RMA coach Doug Dixon said Tuesday after a weekend to think about it.

"But everyone in that locker room was excited and fired up after the game. It was a great game to watch," he said.

The Eagles were big underdogs to the Cavaliers, who came into the game a week after knocking off the GISA state-runner up from a year ago. Mount de Sales whipped Riverside 37-0 last year.

Early it looked like it would be a repeat when the Cavaliers drove 80-yards to start the game for a 7-0 lead.

"We talked about that and the kids knew people probably didn't give them much of a chance. And after the start, they could have folded, but they didn't," Dixon said.

So where do they go from here?

"We have a tough Monroe Academy team coming in and we started talking about them after the game Friday. We have to be prepared for every game. We don't have the luxury of not focusing on this week's opponent," Dixon said.

Not even a little celebration?

"It was exciting for the fams, the players the coaches, but the game ended Friday night. We hope to have more big wins and then we can really celebrate something," Dixon said.
