GAINESVILLE - North Hall coach Bob Christmas and the Trojan football team took a 20-7 Region 7-AAA win over White County Friday night.
But they did it holding their collective noses.
The Trojans' had nearly 150 yards in penalties, two turnovers and overall sloppy play, particularly in the third quarter. North Hall was called for 55-yards in penalties on one White County drive and then lost a fumble that led to the Warriors' Roshaad Norman scooping up the ball and racing 79-yards for a touchdown to cut the Trojans' lead to 14-7.
The Warriors (0-2, 0-2) had a chance to score on their previous drive with a first-and-goal situation at the North Hall 9 but wound up missing a 27-yard field goal.
The Trojans eventually put the game away with a Corey Hutchins touchdown run to cap an 11 minute drive that ate up almost the entire fourth quarter.
North Hall (2-0, 2-0) started out against White County the way it left off last week against Flowery Branch.
The Trojans' Beau Whitemire went 63-yards on the second play of the game for a quick 7-0 lead. T.J. Pitts score in the second quarter to make it 14-0.
Last week, they scored twice and had a third touchdown called back on just five first-half plays.
North Hall will play host to East Hall next week while White County will entertain Gilmer County next week.
