WACO, TEXAS - Baylor's reported deal to hire Valparaiso's Scott Drew as its new men's basketball coach is drawing praise from Baylor guard John Lucas the third.
Lucas says he's still seriously considering transferring to Georgia or another school after receiving his release from Baylor. But he tells KRIV-TV in Houston that he hasn't ruled out returning to the Bears. He says he's narrowed his alternatives to Rice, Rutgers, Georgia, Oklahoma State and Memphis.
Lucas' father, former Cleveland Cavalier coach John Lucas, was initially considered a candidate for the Baylor position. But he also praised the reported Drew hiring. He tells KRIV that ``they got a quality coach.''
But Lucas says the chances of his son returning to Baylor are hurt by the defections of some leading teammates to other schools -- including Baylor's leading scorer, Lawrence Roberts.
