Lady Elephants still No. 1 in Class AAA

GAINESVILLE - Despite two early losses, the Gainesville girls basketball team is still ranked No. 1 in Class AAA in the latest gabasketball.net poll released Monday night.

The Lady Red Elephants (3-2) are fresh off two wins, however, in the Lawrence County Invitational in Tennessee. They open their Region 7-AAA schedule Tuesday night at home against Pickens County.

Arch-rival Fannin County is ranked sixth in the latest poll. The two teams do not meet until January 17th.

Flowery Branch and Johnson are ranked seventh and eighth, respectively, in the current poll. Elbert County at ninth is the only other northeast Georgia scholl ranked in Class AAA.
