Indians avenge early-season loss to Cartersville

TOCCOA - Kerry Major scored two first half touchdowns and the Stephens County defense made it hold up in a 15-6 win over Cartersville in the Class AAA playoffs Friday night.

The Indians (10-2) avenged a loss to Cartersville earlier in the year with the win. They will move on to the quarterfinals to play Peach County, which knocked out defending Class AAA state champ Screven County 27-14.

The Indians will have to travel to Fort Valley and win on the road toadvance to the semifinals and the Georgia Dome.

Following the two Major scores, Ryan Oliver kicked a 23-yard field goal in the first half as Stephens jumped out to a 15-0 lead.

Cartersville (10-2) got a third quarter touchdown but missed the two-point conversion.
