BUFORD - With three defending state champions falling in the second round of the state football playoffs Friday night, the Buford Wolves made sure they would not be one of the victims.

Buford jumped on Adairsville (9-3)early and cruised to a 48-19 win at home. Most of Adairsville's points came against the Buford subs late in the game.

Buford's Darius Walker continued his climb toward the Georgia record books scoring three touchdowns on runs of 25, 24, and 20 in the first half to help the Wolves (12-0) open up a 35-0 lead by halftime.

Walker, a senior who has committed to Georgia, now has 39 on the season and six away from tying the single-season record of 45 held by Charles Grant and Herschel Walker.

The Buford defense got into the scoring act again returning two Adairsville (9-3) fumbles for touchdowns. the first one was a tag-team effort when Neil Brown scooped up the ball and ran 75 yards before he fumbled and teammate Masharn Austin picked it up and ran the 10 yards for the score.

Thor Merrow ran 66-yards for a score in the third quarter after recovering an Adairsville fumble.

Buford will now play host to Cook, which beat Jackson 17-14.

Cook is the No. 2 seed out of Region 2.
