High school football championship games get under way Friday night when Statesboro visits Marist for the Class AAAA title.
On Saturday, Lincoln County plays at Hawkinsville in Class A, Charlton County visits Buford in AA, LaGrange plays at Peach County in AAA, and Valdosta plays host to Camden County for the AAAAA title.
Marist (13-1) has played in six state championship games since 1979, winning only once.
Statesboro (11-2) beat two teams from Marist's division - St. Pius X and Tucker - in the playoffs leading up to Friday's game.
Marist beat Tucker 31-19 but fell to St. Pius 20-17.
