JASPER - The Johnson wrestling team battled back from an early deficit against Pickens only to eventually lose to the Dragons 45-33 Tuesday night.
The Knights (5-5) were without one of their leaders in Nick Wright (152-pounds) who was battling illness.
Pickens opened the match winning the first four matches to take a 24-0 lead.
But Johnson stormed back to take a 33-30 lead heading into the final three matches. Chris Grindle (112), Jason Gomez (119), Spencer Arnold (125), Phat Vu (135), Chad Cole (140) and Charles Estrada (145) all won their matches to get the Knights back into the match. They had to forfeit at 152.
But Pickens won the final three matches to eventually win the match.
Johnson next will be in action at the South Forsyth Duals on Saturday.
