Lady Elephants still No. 1 in AAA

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville girls basketball team already lookes to be in midseason form having won eight straight games.

The latest gabasketball.net prep high school poll, released this week, feels the same way. Despite losing two games early, the Lady Red Elephants (9-2) are again are ranked No. 1 in Class AAA.

Several other Region 7-AAA teams dominate the top 15 rankings. The Johnson girls (6-0) moved up to No. 4 in the poll. The Lady Knights will play No. 1 Gainesville Saturday in the Lanierland Tournament.

Flowery Branch, however, dropped to ninth from seventh. Gilmer came into the poll at 13th and Fannin County fell to 14th.

In other Class AAA girls rankings for northeast Georgia teams, Elbert County was fifth while Franklin County was 11th.
