North Alabama 17, Valdosta St. 10

<p>DeMarcus Blount ran for 94 yards and two second half touchdowns to lead North Alabama, ranked third nationally in NCAA Division II, to a 17-10 victory over top-ranked Valdosta State in a battle of unbeaten teams on Saturday.</p><p>The setback ended Valdosta States 35-game regular season winning streak and also ended the Blazers string of 29 consecutive Gulf South Conference victories.</p><p>Trailing 3-0 at halftime, North Alabama (9-0, 7-0) tied it on Travis Johnstons 22-yard field goal early in the third, then went in front on Blounts 48-yard run later in the third.</p><p>The Blazers (8-1, 6-1), who got a 48-yard field goal from Will Rhody two minutes before halftime, tied the game at 10, scoring on a fake field goal with Tyran Robinson scampering 8 yards with 13:06 to play.</p><p>The Lions needed only six plays to go 68 yards and end the scoring on Blounts 9-yard run with 9:50 remaining.</p><p>After the Blazers were unable to move, North Alabama consumed the final 6:10, driving 68 yards to the Valdosta State 1 when time expired.</p>
