ATLANTA - The Atlanta Thrashers recalled Karl Stewart from the American Hockey League's Chicago team on Thursday to replace center Marc Savard, who was placed on injured reserve earlier in the week after ankle surgery.<br>

Savard is expected to miss eight-to-10 weeks.<br>

Stewart, a forward, had seven points in 10 games with Chicago this season, tied for fourth on the club. He is second on the team with a plus-four rating.<br>

The Thrashers play in Columbus on Friday night.
