ATHENS - Clarke Central blew open a close game in the second half to beat Winder-Barrow and claim the Region 8-AAAA title Friday night.
The Gladiators (9-1) scored 16 unanswered points in the second half after leading 10-3 at halftime.
The loss for Winder-Barrow (8-2) snapped a four-game winning streak. The Bulldoggs, who finished as the No. 2 seed in the region, will play host to McNair next week in the first round of the Class AAAA playoffs.
Winder had a seven game turnaround from a year ago. The Bulldoggs finished 1-9 last year.
