DAWSONVILLE - The Dawson County and Union County basketball teams tip-off their seasons Tuesday night.<br>

Dawson County plays host to Class AAA Pickens County. The Lady Tigers are coming off a Class AA state playoff appearance. They lost to Blessed Trinity in the first round last year.<br>

Neither of the Pickens teams advanced to the Class AAA playoffs a year ago.<br>

In other area action getting underway, Union County travels to Andrews, N.C. to open its season Tuesday night. <br>
<br>
It's the first game of a home-and-home series. The two teams' will play against Fridat=y night in Blairsville.<br>
<br>
In other Region 8-AA action, Greater Atlanta Christian travels to Marist in a battle of private schools in Atlanta.
