WINDER - Three rallies simply wasn't enough for the Winder-Barrow football team.
Dexter Jackson's 15-yard TD run in the first overtime gave Westlake a 28-21 win over Winder-Barrow in the first round of the Class AAAA playoffs.
The Bulldoggs (8-2) were making their first playoff appearance in seven years and their season was one of the most suprising in the state in 2003. they
Winder was just 1-9 last year. The Bulldoggs lost to Clarke Central last week in a game that settled the Region 8-AAAA champion.
Jackson also scored on runs of 1 and 25 yards for the Lions.
Winder had the ball at the Westlake 5 in the overtime but could not get into the end zone and was stopped on fourth down.
Tyler Wilcher hit Pondcell Smith on a 28-yard pass to erase the first Westlake lead to make it 7-7.
After Jackson's second TD run, Winder's Travis Thurmond tied the game at 14-14 on a 62-yard run.
Jackson scored again to make it 2-14 but Winder tied it again on an 11-yard run by Scott Harris.-
