LILBURN - Redan outscored Gainesville 22-2 in the fourth quarter to steal a 58-43 win over the Lady Red Elephants Monday night in the third-place game of the Parkview Invitational Tournament.
Gainesville (1-2) lead after each of the first three quarters but fell apart in the fourth quarter.
"We played terrible in the fourth quarter," coach Manson Hill said. "We didn't do anything right. It was very frustrating because we played great the first three quarters. I don't know what happened."
Redan, ranked fifth in Class AAAAA, went to a full-court press in the final period and forced nearly a dozen Gainesville turnovers.
"There's no excuse for how we played in the fourth quarter. We've seen a press before and usually beat it. But we didn't execute at all. I'm not real happy about the outcome," Hill said.
Tasha Humphrey scored 31 points to lead Gainesville but was the only player in double figures.
The Lady Elephants next will travel to Lawrenceburg, Tenn., to take on Lawrence County in the first round of the Lawrence County Invitational Tournament.
They will return to action at home next week against Pickens County.
