BUFORD - Darius Walker ran for 165 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead the No. 1-ranked Buford Wolves to an easy 56-6 win over Blessed Trinity Friday in the Class AA state football playoffs.
The Wolves (11-0) led 28-0 at the end of the first quarter and were never threatened. They were one late score away from recording their sixth shutout of the year.
Buford next week will play host to Adairsville in the second round of the playoffs.
Walker, who has verbally committed to the University of Georgia, scored on runs of 10, 48, 17 and 25 yards.
Walker now has 36 TDs on the season and is just 9 shy of the record of 45 held by Herschel Walker and Charles Grant.
Quarterback Kyle Manley, who has committed to Georgia Tech, threw one TD pass, a 65-yarder to Brandon Clark.
Zach Smith, who has committed to Duke, blocked a punt and Mark Standridge returned it for a touchdown. Standridge later scored again on a 27-yard run.
Masharn Austin also returned a punt 60 yards for a TD.
