Pickens, North Hall climbing Class AAA rankings

Pickens County leaped-frogged North Hall in the latest Class AAA girls state softball rankings from Gafastpitch.com.

Pickens (16-5) is 8-0 in Region 7-AAA, just one-half game ahead of the Lady Trojans (19-4) in the region. North Hall is 7-0 in region play. The two teams will slug it out Thursday at North Hall with the top seed for the upcoming region tournament on the line.

Both Chestatee (12-6) and Flowery Branch (13-10) dropped one spot. The Lady War Eagles are now eighth while the Lady Falcons are ninth.

In other rankings, Dawson County cracked the Class AA top 10 in a tie for ninth with Rockmart. Buford dropped out of the top 10.

In Class AAAA, South Forsyth dropped from fifth to sixth while North Forsyth climbed to fourth after two big Region 6-AAAA wins last week. Jackson County continued its strong play in Region 8-AAAA moving up one to ninth. The Lady Panthers are riding a 17-game win streak.
