Jackson, Knights run over Falcons

OAKWOOD - B.J. Jackson scored three times and ran 114 yards to lead Johnson to a 43-0 rout of Flowery Branch Friday night at Billy Ellis Stadium.

The Knights (5-1, 5-1 in Region 7-AAA) were coming off a disappointing loss last week to Class AAA No. 2-ranked Gainesville.

They wasted little time in getting going against the Falcons (2-4, 2-4).

Jackson scored on a 14-yard run on their second possession and then went 36-yards on their third possession to make it 12-0 in the first quarter.

Jackson scored again on a 10-yard run midway through the second quarter.

The vaunted Johnson defense, which was shredded early against Gainesville and then rediscovered itself, completely shut down a good Falcons wishbone attack. It was so good, the Falcons abandoned their running game and went to the air in the first half. That resulted in QB Matt Jones being sacked four times.

johnson put the game away in the first three minutes of the first half as Jose Noriega booted a school-record tying 43-yard field goal and then Tarik Smith returned the first Flowery Branch punt pf the second half 66-yards for a touchdown.

cardy McKenzey also had a solid game for Johnson rushing for 114 yards and a TD.

Flowery Branch was led by 69 yards rushing from Jones and 32 yards by Whitney Watkins.
