NORCROSS - For the second time this year the Class AA No. 1-ranked Buford Wolves were shutout in the first quarter by a Region 8-AA opponent.
And for the second time, the game was over by halftime.
This time, Wesleyan jumped out to a 3-0 lead over Buford after the first quarter. But Wesleyan would not come close again as the Wolves (7-0, 7-0) responded with 43 unanswered points in a 43-3 route friday night.
They led 27-3 at the half.
Last week Buford was tied 0-0 with Union County but then scored 49 consecutive points.
Buford has outscored the top three teams behind it in the region standings - Greater Atlanta Christian, Wesleyan and Lumpkin County - by a combined score of 93-12.
Buford will play host to non-region Madison County next week.
