GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA - Florida defensive end Bobby McCray has been suspended for Saturday's game against Number Four Georgia for violating the university's class attendance policy.
McCray has eight of the 23rd-ranked Gators' 17 sacks and is within reach of Alex Brown's school season record of 13. McCray is also second among Florida's defensive linemen with 32 tackles. McCray can return against Vanderbilt on November Eighth.
The Gators can move into a tie for first place in the SEC East with a win over Georgia in Jacksonville.
Senior Travis Harris, who was converted from linebacker in spring practice, will start for McCray. Harris started the first four games and has 19 tackles, but no sacks.
An even bigger concern is depth at defensive end. Freshman linebackers Taurean Charles and Brian Crum practiced sparingly on yesterday, joining two other freshmen, Steven Harris and MacKenzie Pierre, as backups. The four freshmen have a combined nine tackles.
