BREMEN - West Georgia clothing manufacturer will shut down, leaving 100 people without jobs, the company's chief operating officer said.
When the Hubbard Co. closes its doors by the end of the year, the last of Bremen's clothing manufacturers will have left the town of about 4,000.
Chief operating officer Todd Crook said no one in the plant's work force will be transferred to other jobs.
``We have no potential buyers because of the textile industry,'' Crook said. ``The U.S. clothing manufacturing business has been hit hard by lower prices from overseas manufacturers.''
The plant was a large part of the textile industry in Haralson County, where Hubbard, Warren Sewell Clothing Co. and Sewell Manufacturing once employed as many as 5,000 people.
