ATLANTA - Georgia Power Company crews worked throughout the night to restore power to thousands who lost electricity when thunderstoms rolled through metro Atlanta and north Georgia. <br>

Georgia Power spokesman Tal Wright says 35,000 customers were without power in the metro area at the height of the storm about 7 p.m. Tuesday. <br>

Another 21,000 customers lost power elsewhere in Georgia. <br>
<br>
Wright says that number is down to 75 customers in metro Atlanta and about 40 more in Cartersville in northwest Georgia. <br>
<br>
Crews expect to restore power to those customers in the next few hours. <br>

In Alpharetta, lightning hit the tops of two houses that were two doors apart.
