Massey withdraws name from Chamber consideration

By By Jeff Hart
ATLANTA - Lewis Massey says he has unfinished business as president of Sci-Trek, an interactive science museum in Atlanta, and has withdrawn his name from consideration for President and CEO of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.

"Right now we're working on adding some things to the museum and I have committed to finishing those," Massey said. "After thinking about it, I decided it was best for me to stay."

Massey, a Gainesville native, is working on a a nine month project to add an interactive space exploration program to the museum. He also said there were some other things on the drawing board that he wants to see happen.

"I was asked to look into the Chamber job. I wasn't actively seeking to move anywhere," Massey said. "I told them I would, I did, and I decided it wasn't the right time."

Massey said the five-year commitment the Chamber wants does not fit his immediate plans.

"The Chamber is a great organization and if it had been a different time I would have strongly considered it. But the amount of time combined with what I'm working on now just didn't fit," Massey said.

Massey said he plans to stay at Sci-Trek for at least another year.
