By Lawson Smith Anchor/Reporter
A new Chief of the Braselton Police Department was sworn in this week.

Michael T. Steffman took his oath of office Wednesday from Senior Judge Nick Primm of the Piedmont Judicial Circuit.

A Connecticut native, Steffman has been with BPD since 2005, serving in several roles within the department. He attended Davidson County Community College in North Carolina, the Georgia Public Service Training Center, Northeast Georgia Police Academy and Columbus State University.

Steffman was named Interim Police Chief in 2024 following the retirement of Chief Terry Esco. Town Manager Jennifer Scott selected him as the final candidate for the position, a decision ratified by the Braselton Town Council in April and made final this week.
