Two granted bonds in lake drowning

AUGUSTA - A Superior Court judge granted $100,000 bonds Friday to two men accused of murder in the April drowning death of a mentally disabled man in Lake Olmstead. <br> <br> Gary R. Payne, 27, and Air Force Staff Sgt. John C. Kuykendall, 23, pleaded innocent to a felony murder charge in the death of 48-year-old Marty T. Gibson. The bonds were granted on condition they surrender their passports. <br> <br> Assistant District Attorney Jason Troiano said investigators believe Payne and Kuykendall dragged Gibson down an embankment and threw him into the lake April 18. <br> <br> When investigators confronted them with a witness&#39;s account that they were at the lake that night, the two gave conflicting accounts about what happened, Troiano said.
