ORLANDO, FLORIDA - Steven Orsini, senior associate director of athletics at Georgia Tech, has been selected to succeed Steve Sloan as the University of Central Florida's athletics director. <br>

UCF President John Hitt said Friday the appointment, effective July first, will put Orsini in charge of a program covering 500 athletes in 17 varsity sports. <br>

He will oversee a budget currently totaling $13 million and a staff of some 125 coaches and other employees. <br>
<br>
Orsini, 46, a graduate of Notre Dame and captain of its 1977 championship football team, goes to UCF after a three-year stint at Tech.
