Tamika Chanlorda Bumpass pleaded guilty Monday in the shooting of Columbia County Sheriff's Deputy Glenda Shelton. Sentencing on the charges could come as early as next week.
Bumpass was arrested in Appling on April 16 on several charges, including nine counts of forgery and 17 counts of identity fraud.
According to investigators, Bumpass attacked Shelton while being transported on April 19.
Shelton's gun went off, hitting the deputy in the chest. Police say Bumpass then turned the gun on a passer-by, stole his pickup and escaped. She was captured 12 hours later.
