Matt Causey, a 5-foot-11 point guard who transfered from East Hall to Berkmar last season, has verbally committed to play basketball for the Georgetown Hoyas.
Causey stunned the local basketball community in midseason when he announced his plans.
Berkmar reached the Class AAAAA quarterfinals and finished 25-5. East Hall advanced to the Class AA playoffs
Causey averaged 17 points and 7 assists per game earning an honorable mention in the Atlanta-Journal Constitution's Boys 2002 All-State Basketball Class AAAAA.
Matt will be the third Causey brother to play Division I ball.
Brother Michael signed with Billy Tubb's at TCU and later transferred to Harvard.
Brother Mark is a freshman walk-on player at Duke and saw some action this year for the Blue Devils. All played for the Georgia Stars program AAU basketball program.
Because he is an underclass player, Matt Causey will have to wait until November's early signing period before officially signing.
Causey chose Georgetown over Stanford and Florida State.
