ATLANTA - Tina McElroy Ansa has written four books, including one that was named to the New York Times Book Review's list of Notable Books of the Year. <br>

Still, she says she and others her age -- she's 52 -- have failed. <br>

She told a roomful of Spelman College students - her alma mater -- that they have absolutely dropped the ball with your generation. <br>

She says, ``In many ways, we have failed you all, but I believe in redemption, and I think we can snatch y'all back with love.'' <br>

The Macon native and St. Simons resident was speaking as part of a publicity tour for her latest novel, ``You Know Better.'' The book was inspired by her childhood growing up in Macon's Pleasant Hill neighborhood, where the entire community felt responsible for raising children and teaching them values.
